butterflies and bordeauxfacebook / etsy / twitterThis necklace loves living at my store. Its been there since January and its actually okay with me. This isn't a signature piece, but it represents my roots in jewelry making. I started out making chainmaille pieces and slowly evolved into a more delicate style... lately i've been making a lot of fantasy pieces that aren't so delicate as far as size is concerned, but i'm always up for something new in jewelry. so her you have it
butterflies and bordeauxA brand new piece that oozes romantic antiquity. From the carefully selected color scheme to the age old methods used in its making.
Beginning with the beautifully embellished pendant and its layers of brass filigree; a faux pliqué a jour was used to cause the butterfly to standout among the other layers of filigree and also to enhance the detail in the butterfly wings themselves. This pendant was further garnished with a lovely handmade antiqued, pink rose and burgundy colored swarovski pearl. Not one element subtracting from the beauty of the next, but all working in harmony, complimenting one another.
Climbing up the handmade chain, the pearls and crystals are carefully patterned to echo the colors of the pendant. Tediously wrought lace-like byzantine knots reflect the scrolling filigree. The ornately jeweled chain speaks volumes to its Victorian influences.
Finally, this necklace is completed when it comes to a close with a handmade, matching s hook. Wrapped, hammered and decorated with glass pearls.
Just like a fairytale ending; transforming austerity into something ostentatious.
By color, design and its very nature this necklace is the quintessential valentine's gift for any lover of the bygone Romantic and Victorian eras.
